Whether you are more a fan of Emily Bronte's classic 1847 novel Wuthering Heights or Kate Bush's 1978 song adaptation, we invite you to dance over to the Pacific Beach Library to express your inner Cathy (or Kate) at The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever!

All ages, genders, and abilities are invited to don a red dress and dance to Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" in the Pacific Beach Library's park, using the moves that Kate Bush immortalized in her music video. Afterwards, we invite you to hang out in our park for tea, snacks, and music. Leading up to the event we'll hold weekly dance rehearsals, and we'll also share how-to videos on learning the choreography, making the iconic red dress, and more.

Our library was inspired to host a Most Wuthering Day Ever event after we hosted an online read-together of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights in 2021 (Click Here for that read-together). The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever (TMWHDE) concept had been launched in 2013, after a performance art group in the UK named Shambush decided to gather the largest collection of Kate Bushes as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival. Their Kate Bush Experience was wildly popular, and TMWHDE is now celebrated globally each summer, near Kate Bush's July 30th birthday. The Pacific Beach Library has hosted a Wuther each summer since 2022, and we look forward to dancing with you next summer!

TMWHDE is inspired by our Wuthermothers, Shambush, who created and presented this event in 2013. The Pacific Beach presentation of TMWHDE is organized and directed by Christina Wainwright, Manager of the Pacific Beach/Taylor Branch of the San Diego Public Library.
